Have I told you lately?

Have I Told You Lately?

Yes, I'm often inclined to look for prayer sources apart from the traditional.

While I realize (gulp!) that not everyone shares my passion for Rod Stewart .... when I heard his rendition of Van Morrison's ballad, I was struck --  this isn't a love song to a woman; the writer is expressing his love for God!

Have I told you lately that I love you;

Have I told you there's no one above you;

You fill my heart with gladness,

Take away my sadness,

Ease my troubles, that's what you do!

Oh, the morning sun in all its glory

Greets the day with hope and comfort too.

And you fill my life with laughter,

You can make it better

Ease my troubles that's what you do.

There's a love that's divine
and it's yours and it's mine -- like the sun.
And at the end of the day, we should give thanks and pray........

  3. Thank you, Victor! I continue to promote the Christian Lounge; is there, perhaps, a specific graphic (containing a link) that I might copy for my blog's margin?

  4. Myra, thank you for sharing this song's lyrics. My husband and I dubbed this as "our song" when we first married, over 3 years ago, and it is still special. But I had not thought of it as a song to the Lord. I love that thought! You are so right!!!

  5. It is a beautiful song and prayer.

    ""Have I Told You Lately" is a song written and recorded by Northern Irish singer and songwriter Van Morrison for his nineteenth studio album, Avalon Sunset (1989). It is a romantic ballad that is often played at weddings, although it was originally written as a prayer."

      Have wonderful and happy days, blessings.
      Kisses, Victor.

      Thank you Momentos. I agree. Myra chose this song as a prayer. As Jan also said (above) it was originally written as a prayer. I did not know that.

      God bless you.
